steak and peppers on low carb pizza crust

Shaved steak is a delicious time saving ingredient that makes an awesome pizza! Use your favorite crust, low carb tortilla or pita bread. Add your low carb philly steak toppings for a meal everyone will love.

Pita bread with shaved steak, try color peppers and melted cheese

This recipe was inspired by my quest for delicious low carb pizzas! This pizza is a low carb version of a philly cheesesteak pizza. It features all the delicious flavors of the cheesesteak sandwich minus the extra carbs. Here we are using a lower carb pita bread which makes a great crust for these toppings.

Ingredients

This steak is so easy to prepare- just minutes until it is fully cooked. The brand I chose was a shaved ribeye steak and contained no added salt. I chose a frozen bag of peppers and onions although fresh will work also.

White board with box of shaved steak, peppers and onion, cheese and a pita bread
  • Shaved steak- I used a box of frozen shaved ribeye steak. Use any brand you like.
  • Peppers and onions- frozen works great
  • Cheese- Use you favorite cheese or omit if desired.
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Tortilla or pita bread- low carb if desired

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Let me show you how easy it is to prepare this recipe!

White board with box of shaved steak, peppers and onion, cheese and a pita bread

Step 1

Gather steak, peppers and onions, worcestershire sauce and tortilla or pita bread.

Skillet with cooked shaved steak and peppers and melted cheese on top.

Step 2

Saute steak, peppers and onions and sauce until steak is no longer pink. Top with cheese and melt.

Step 3

Warm then place your pita or tortilla on plate then top with sauce or dressing (if desired) and half of the shaved steak mixture. Enjoy!

Top Tip

Using a small amount of sauce or dressing on your tortilla or pita will add a delicious moistness! I used about a tablespoon of wine and cheese dressing then topped with the shaved steak mixture.

Substitutions

Are you following a special diet? Let's check out some substitutions you can make!

  • low carb - choose a low carb tortilla or pita bread for the base.
  • low sodium - choose shaved steak with no additives to keep sodium levels low.
  • gluten free - use a gluten free tortilla and check shaved steak for any gluten containing additives.

Variations

  • Chicken philly-saute chicken tenders instead of beef.
  • Love pineapple on pizza?- drain pineapple chunks well and sprinkle on finished pizza.
  • Try a layer of BBQ sauce or ranch dressing before adding the toppings.
